Biography – Sister Samar Al-Mawy

Sister Samar Al-Mawy, a teacher of Qurʾān, Tajwīd and Qirāʾāt. With the help and grace of Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى , Al-Mawy holds Ijāzah (certification) in the ten Qirāʾāt (modes of recitation) as well as different technical poems (Matn) which cover the rules of tajwīd, Qirāʾāt, calligraphy (rasm) of the Muṣḥaf, Sciences of the Qurʾān as well as Arabic language and grammar and different sciences of the Qurʾān.

Her diverse teaching experience, in addition to have studied under the guidance of various sheikhs and teachers, this all enabled her to develop the curriculum and program for Teachers Training Program (TTP). This program stemmed from Al-Mawy’s aspiration to reach out to the students of knowledge and try to fill the need of receiving a professional well structured approach of learning Qurʾān. 

The TTP  is an intensive training program which aims at providing distinctive training techniques through live lectures and practical workshops covering different modules in an attempt to prepare teachers of Qurʾān and Tajwīd to teach in a highly professional yet interesting manner.

One of the key efficient elements of the TTP- with the bless of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى-  is that it is delivered live onsite and designed on both lecture and workshop basis. It has been successfully conducted in different countries and has many graduates who are teaching variety of programs in different countries at different organizations, both live and online.

Al-Mawy is the founder of Marjan Programs, an online tribune offering courses in various branches of the sciences of the Qurʾān: www.marjanprograms.com.

She is also the founder of Motoon Foundation that aims at teaching a variety of technical poems which cover rules of tajwīd, recitation, Qirāʾāt and calligraphy of the Qurʾān. In an attempt to facilitate the studies of Tajweed, Qurʾān and Qirāʾāt, Al-Mawy has few publications  in the respective fields.

Samar Al-Mawy is the head of the Tajwīd and Qurʾān Department- Sisters Section- at Knowledge International University (KIU).

Al-Mawy holds a B.Sc. degree in Engineering as graduated at the American University in Cairo (AUC). 

Also, holds a B.A. in Islamic Daʿwah as graduated at the Higher Institute of Islamic Studies in Foreign Languages (HIISFL).

On the professional side, she has an extensive experience of more than 12 years in project management with different multinational organizations as well as educational projects.

Sister Samar Al-Mawy is the founder of Marjan Programs, which aims at providing simplified courses of tajweed and courses for quran recitation to help non-Arabic speaking sisters around the globe learn Quran and its related sciences.

With the help and grace of Allah, she possesses profound experience -more than ten years- in teaching all tongues of different ages, training and consulting in the field of Tajweed and Quran education. 

This enabled her to develop the curriculum and program for Teachers Training Program (TTP) whereby she conducts the program, live on-site- in different countries. The TTP aims at providing distinctive training techniques through live lectures and practical workshops covering different modules in an attempt to prepare teachers of Quran and Tajweed to teach in a highly professional yet interesting manner.

Al- Hamdulillah, she has been blessed to have Ijazah Sanad in different qiraas and riwayas, as well as Ijazah Tilawah in the ten Qiraat (modes of recitation of the Quran). 

In addition to Ijazah in some poems related to Tajweed and other different sciences of the Quraan (such as Al Jazzriyah & Al-Khaqaniyah).

Her experience and passion of teaching extends to teaching a variety of courses related to Ulum al-Quran.

She taught live courses of Tajweed, Noorania, TTP, Ulum al-Quran and public lectures in 17 different cities, in 9 different countries.

Sister Samar, in addition to being experienced online teacher, teaching at online esteemed universities and academies, she also holds the position of the Head of the Quran and Tajweed Department- Sisters Section- at Knowledge International University (KIU).

Because of the wide exposure which sister Samar had in her teaching path, this qualified her to provide Tajweed and Quranic education consultancies for different schools of Quran studies.

As for sister Samar’s education background, she is a graduate of the American University in Cairo (AUC), with a B. Sc. in Construction Engineering. Her career and professional background is summarized in 12 years experience in the Project Management field.

Additionally, Ms. Al Mawy holds a B. A. in Islamic Studies & Dawah being a graduate of the Higher Institute of Islamic Studies in Foreign Languages (HIISFL).
