What is Marjan university ?
It is an online university, offering different tracks of studies: Programs and courses.
The purpose of Marjan University is to create an accessible platform enabling the non Arabic-speaking sisters above 16 years old, to take a deep dive to understand Quran، reflecting on each topic and ensuring taking this Holy book as the guide in life. The offered programs encourage living by the company of the Qur’an & to guide one’s actions with its treasures & miracles.
Our ultimate goal is to empower our students to lead meaningful lives, guided by the Qur’an’s teachings.
Marjan University offers a holistic approach in the study of the Quran to help Muslim students be attached the Quran and to understand the religion through its main source of legislation and guidance; hence follow it properly in the path of seeking pleasure of Allah and being a good Muslim.
What does MU offer?
Marjan University will offer two different study tracks for the students in an attempt to suffice the diverse needs of students as well as to accommodate the distinct conditions of the students. Details of each track will be elaborated later on in a separate section in this document.
What is the difference between “a program” and “a course”?
– MU Programs: We offer structured programs which is level based (multi-year structured programs) and
should be covered from first year all the way through the last year.
– MU Courses: We offer independent courses whereby students may choose to choose any of the courses
independently on the others. There is a wide range of stand-alone courses that interested students could
join as a one-time course for few weeks.
What is the teaching methodology?
Marjan University pursues cutting edge technology and highly qualified trained teachers to deliver interactive and well-structured lessons. The philosophy of Marjan University aims at building a well-rounded learner experience which includes pre and post assessments, practical assignments and projects
How long is the academic year?
– Each Academic year is based on two semesters, each semester 3-4 months, excluding exams. Students will basically have around 14-16 weeks of study per semester.
– Durations of the sessions are planned as: one class will run for 60-75 minutes each.
– Annual Breaks:
During Ramadan
Two weeks for each Eid.
A two-week break will take place in between the semesters
Summer break: July and August.
What are the general requirements for joining any program?
Good command of English language (written and understanding)
Good internet connection
Seriousness and commitment
Basic knowledge of attending online classes
Sisters only
16 years and above
What is the grading scheme?
Marjan University adopts the percentage converted into letter marks. Depending on the nature of the material covered each semester, the details of grading will be slightly different from one subject to the other.
Generically, the grading scheme will be as follows:
Attendance and participation:10%
Quizzes and assignments:30%
Final exam- Written: 60%
For some subjects, there will be oral exams, so the grading will be: Final exam- Oral: 30% and Final exam- Written: 30%
Passing grade is 60%.
Below that grade, student will be required to repeat the course or take a make-up exam (if entitled to).
Make-Up exam:
Students who might go through any unfortunate events or face some hardships, could be entitled to sit for a make-up exam. Decision of whether or not a student may take the make-up depends on some factors such as: participation and alertness in class, seriousness of the students as evaluated by her teacher and student’s punctuality. If a student needs to take a make-up exam, she has to email her teacher preferably before the scheduled day of exam.
What are the fees of each program?
Each course- under the paid programs- has typical fees of $80/course. Programs include 7-8
courses per semester.
MU is offering special discount on the occasion of its launch and the fees are reduced to $40/course
for the first year in-shaa-Allah.
Can I apply for a scholarship?
The student applies for a scholarship, fills out the scholarship form, and waits for the response from the MU team.
Can I stury Qiraat?
Apply for the announced course, fill in the registration form, take the placement test and then you will be
ready to start if you pass the placement test. Admin team will contact the students to give them details
about their classes.
